Nevada OSHA recently adopted a new set of rules (Federal Program Change Directive) for managing hazardous chemicals safely. These rules, which came into effect in January 2024, guide how Nevada OSHA enforces safety standards for workplaces dealing with highly dangerous chemicals. The aim is to make sure these standards are consistently applied across the state.
This new directive replaces an older one and includes some important changes, like removing the Appendix A PQV Audit Checklist and organizing existing OSHA PSM enforcement policies into a question-answer format.
It’s important to note that this directive isn’t a new law or regulation itself, but rather a guide for how existing safety laws should be enforced. So, businesses don’t have to adopt any new practices beyond what’s already required by law.
