This past Nevada legislative session included the passage of Assembly Bill 290 which includes several ramifications for the safety community. The purpose of the bill was to give employers a way to verify the validity of 10 or 30 hour OSHA construction cards presented by their employees.
As part of this bill, a new website will be created and allow employers to check a database containing information on construction employees trained in Nevada, by registered trainers, on or after 01/01/20. This site will replace the current NV1030.org site once it is complete (at the end of 2019).
In the past, OSHA 10 and 30 hour construction trainers could sign-up on the NV1030.org website so that employers and employees who needed training could find them. The new site will expand the functionality available to assist employers with verification an employee’s 10 or 30 hour OSHA construction cards.
Effective 01/01/20 all OSHA 10 and 30 hour construction trainers in Nevada MUST register on the NV1030.org site. In addition, trainers are required to input specific information regarding their students into a database.
As an additional resource to verify the validity of newly issued OSHA cards, some OSHA Training Institutes (OTI) already have online verification sites. In order to verify a card on one of these sites, you must know the OTI that issued the card, know the name on the card, and have the card number. If the information entered is correct and the card is new enough to be in their database, you will receive verification. It is important to note, some older cards are still valid but are not verifiable through the system. Currently there are at least six OTI centers that allow for the verification of cards issued in the last several years. Their website addresses are listed below.
