Damon Bosley - Engineering & Safety Manager
We’re Nationwide Power - we have a warehouse in Las Vegas - 57,000 square feet. We employ roughly about 65 people nationwide. We're a premier service organization for battery backup units or uninterruptible power supplies. We'd requested a review because when I came on board, they defined that they want to take safety seriously here, and it's not that they weren't taking it seriously before, it was we wanted to enhance it. So as a result, we reached out to SCATS and said, “Hey can you guys come in and do a complimentary audit and tell me what our problems are that we don't recognize right away?” It started the process of a review and they've brought things to our attention that we weren't aware of - safety concerns and better ways to do business - whether it be enhancing our safety manual or the way we produce things in a warehouse. And then after a review, there was active communication back and forth about how to rectify our issues and become a more safe company. When we reduce our injury rates, it lowers our equipment modifier ratings, which in turn lowers our company-wide premiums. Our consultants were really easy to deal with, and you know, they know the standard, and it made me feel better about dealing with them because it could have been a lot more difficult if they weren't as concerned about us making our industry better. From January to December 2014, after working with SCATS, as well as working through our SHARP process, we made it through the year with a zero injury rating.
