If I request a consultation with SCATS, will I be cited for non-compliances?
We do not issue citations, nor do we report non-compliances. SCATS consultations are confidential. Our mission is to provide guidance on the development and implementation of safety and health programs. Our purpose is to aid Nevada employers with OSHA compliance, ensure a safe workplace, and help them protect their businesses.
What can I expect during a SCATS visit?
It depends on the scope of the visit. For example, an employer may request a safety consultant to review the site’s safety and health programs; while another employer may request an industrial hygienist to evaluate the airborne hazards associated with an industrial operation. After you request a consultation visit, a consultant will contact you to discuss the details of the visit.
Who can request a consultation?
Any business can request a consultation. However, SCATS’ visits are prioritized to provide services to small businesses that fall under a high hazard industry.
How much does it cost to have SCATS conduct an on-site consultation?
The Safety Consultation and Training Section (SCATS) is a State of Nevada agency. Consultations are FREE to Nevada businesses. SCATS is represented by professional safety consultants and industrial hygienists that can conduct an on-site safety and/or health consultation upon your request.
